Scott Elliott produces, directs, and edits 590films' documentary-style promotional films. Scott's first feature length documentary,
Slumming It: Myth and Culture on the Bowery, about the history of the Bowery in New York City, aired on PBS in June 2005 on the series Reel New York. Prior to Slumming It, Scott directed and edited short documentaries for
Mixed Greens, a New York production company,
and worked as an associate producer on
The Fancy, directed by filmmaker Elisabeth Subrin. The film screened at the 2000 New York Video Festival, and 2001 Vienna and Rotterdam film festivals. Scott studied filmmaking and History at Amherst College in Massachusetts. His 1999 thesis documentary video,
Reflections from Sa Pa, Vietnam, about a community in rural Vietnam, won honorable mention from the 2000 World Population Film and Video Festival.
In addition to his work at 590films, Scott is a freelance producer, cameraman and editor and has worked for numerous cable and corporate clients such as Lime, AMC, Cisco, Alcoa, and Wal-Mart. He is currently producing a series of educational video case studies for
CaseNEX and the NYC Department of Education about successful schools in New York City. Scott's most recent documentary, about Cambodian Buddhist monks working with AIDS orphans, is showing at
Frontline/World. He is currently developing a documentary about
Ballet Tech, a public high school for ballet dancers.
